Welcome to the first in our “Meet the Vendors” series, where we celebrate the amazing independent businesses featured on our tours. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Stockport Gin, a labor of love by Paul and Cheryl Sharrocks.

How it all began

Paul and Cheryl have been gin enthusiasts ever since they could legally sip their first G&T. Their passion for gin followed them on every holiday, where they eagerly sought out local varieties, savoring unique flavors and learning about the craft. Over time, they noticed that while other parts of Manchester and the UK were establishing their own gin brands, Stockport was missing its own local spirit. So, they decided to fill the gap—and what a journey it’s been!

After plenty of experimentation (including a dramatic mishap that involved their garage), Stockport Gin was born. What started as a homegrown operation has flourished into a nationally recognized brand, even winning Best Gin in the UK in 2022.

How you can find them

Today, the magic happens at their charming shop on St. Petersgate in Stockport. Open Monday to Saturday, visitors can browse their beautiful gin gift sets, bottles, and more. Just behind the shop lies the heart of the operation—where their award-winning gin is distilled, bottled, and labeled by hand.

As part of our Stockport food tour, we’re thrilled to offer exclusive access to this distillery. Guests can step into the distilling room to see the process up close and, of course, enjoy a tasting! You’ll sample their Original Gin, the zesty Lime & Pine Gin (a UK Gin Champion), and their bold Navy Strength Gin for those who enjoy a stronger sip.

Not just a distillery

For an even more hands-on experience, Stockport Gin has created a gin school in the beautifully designed space above the shop. Here, you can craft your own gin, making it a unique option for birthdays, corporate events, or even weddings—yes, they’ve hosted one!

When asked about their success, Paul emphasized the importance of staying connected with their customers. This year, they’re introducing exciting new flavors and hosting engaging events like supper clubs to keep the community buzzing.
